Pocket Inspirations - Great is thy Faithfulness ⑥
I have a major LOVE/DISLIKE feeling towards this book. It's a tiny book that fits in your pocket; a daily devotional full of "promises of hope and encouragement". There are so many beautiful writings inside; quotes by well known Christians and a bunch of scripture!
Heart gripping messages like this one; about God's goodness, about God's love towards us, the attention He pays to us, the way He takes care of us, and how we don't have to concern ourselves with anything because it's our Father's responsibility to take care of His children.
Then there are messages like this one; messages that are actually the exact opposite of what God tells us in scripture. God doesn't promise final victory in this life? There isn't room in this post to share all the scripture about how Jesus' death and resurrection gives us victory. God doesn't promise success? Again, scripture tells us that even having God with us makes us successful; let alone all of the other successes He DOES promise.
Which by the way, the category of this devotional is "promises of hope and encouragement". Messages like this one are not encouraging, nor are they hopeful. So I'm torn on this one; if you've allowed the Holy Spirit to reveal the truth about God and His promises, you'd likely be able to "spit out the bones", but if not...this devotional will only confuse you. The woman who blessed me with this was so sweet and I love her so much for thinking of me to even leave me such a surprise.
