Motel 6 - Texas and Illinois ⑤

I've stayed in several Motel 6 establishments over the past few years and I can say they've definitely gotten better with age. It appears Motel 6 is making some upgrades across the states; granted it's still Motel 6, but it's better than the "Roach Motel".

In Conroe, TX; the Motel 6 has access from the outside, rooms are smoking, and pets are allowed. Though it served its purpose of a place to lay our heads, there was a lot of disruptive drama and smells you can't unsmell.

In Arlington Heights, IL on the other hand; their hotel was much nicer. Access was indoors with no smoking allowed and no pets in designated areas; so there was less risk you'd be laying your face in someone else's dog hair. The rooms are very small, but clean and the faux, hard wood floors are the best upgrade; too many things were being left behind in that carpet.

Their rooms are typically around $45-$60/night; whether directly or through Priceline. It's decent for a night's sleep or if you just want to get away and stay in a hotel for fun.
