Ride the Ducks ⑤

So you’re escorted onto a car-boat by a human in a duck costume, seated in said car-boat and given a brief introduction then you travel the streets of Branson as the captain tells you all about the local sites to see during your stay in the Ozarks. I can’t lie; it’s pretty cool to ride around on this unique vehicle in the open breeze, especially if it’s not too hot outside. After pointing out a few of the main attractions, you’re taken to the river entrance; this is where the wheels speed up until you plummet into the water of Table Rock Lake. It’s not so fast you get wet; though there’s a big splash, it doesn’t hit you but a few drops.

While in the water, the captain continues to share history of the area and details about local tourist attractions; he’ll even let you drive the boat if you want. From pickup to drop off; the ride lasts a little over an hour, and at the end they give you their infamous duck call whistles as a souvenir.

I liked the idea of a vehicle that served two purposes, and I love water rides, so those two aspects are what drew me; but the overall experience with the story telling and scripted humor was not all that fun for me. It’s definitely something kids would enjoy; but if you just want a water ride, it would be more exciting to hit up Silver Dollar City.
