Shepherd of the Hills Fish Hatchery ①

Shepherd of the Hills Fish Hatchery

Please allow me to honestly say that this isn’t necessarily categorized as a tourist attraction. If you really, really, really dig fish then maybe this might be something you’d use vacation days to visit; but it’s mostly just the place where they house and produce trout for Lake Taneycomo. The fact that they produce 350,000-400,000 pounds of it a year is fairly impressive; but for me personally, the most exciting part was feeding time. You see how many fish are in one concrete section; when you drop whatever it is they’re feeding them into those vats, it’s pretty cool to see how aggressive they get and how it stirs up the waters like a hurricane! It literally is a feeding frenzy!

They do have other things you can do like hiking, bird watching, and hatchery tours; but I don’t remember touring anything other than those giant concrete holes full of fish.
